Zbigniew Gieleciak, President of the Management Board of the Regionalne Centrum Gospodarki Wodno -Ściekowej S.A.
Zbigniew Gieleciak has been performing a number of functions in various regional and national institutions for 20 years. Since 2000, he has been the President of the Regional Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Tychy, and since 2001, he is the President of the Management Board of the Regionalnego Centrum Gospodarki Wodno-Ściekowej S.A. in Tychy, which is a leader in the collection and treatment of municipal wastewater, and the production of electricity from renewable energy sources. From November 2019, he is the President of the Silesian Water Cluster, and from October 2020, the chairman of the Council of the Tyskie Cluster of Energy.
He has carried out many projects in various areas of economic and social life. In the years 2006-2015, the Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Tychy for the Implementation of the Project “Wastewater Management in Tychy” – one of the largest projects in Poland implemented from the EU Cohesion Fund, and in 2010-2014 Advisor to the Mayor of Tychy in the field of road infrastructure. He carried out the modernization of the national road DK1 Katowice-Bielsko in the Tychów section.
He managed municipal investments worth over PLN 1.2 billion, including the modernization of the wastewater treatment plant in Tychy, leading it to one of the most energy-efficient treatment plants in Europe. He is the initiator of the construction of the Tychy Water Park, which was built and managed under his supervision. It is one of the most modern water recreation facilities in Poland.
He is a creator of solutions in the field of biogas production and effective use of green energy. The results obtained in this respect were placed by RCGW S.A. as a leader in terms of energy balance among water and sewage companies in Europe. Author of several articles in the field of water and wastewater management and energy efficiency with the use of alternative fuels. Chairman of the program councils, lecturer and panellist of several dozen conferences in the field of water and sewage management.
Zbigniew Gieleciak is one of the founders of the District Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and has been its president for 20 years. In the years 2016-2021 he was the Vice-Chairman of the Council of the Polish Chamber of Commerce. It is the initiator and implementer of many projects supporting and integrating both local and regional entrepreneurs operating in Silesia. The economic self-government that he manages implements projects supporting the development of enterprises in the region, for which the Chamber obtained funds in the amount of over PLN 40 million. Over 270 new companies were established with the participation of the Chamber.
Active participant in advisory and expert teams, member of the team implementing the Foresight project for the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Area, for 12 years a member of the County Employment Council and a member of the Water Management Council at the District Water Management Board in Gliwice. From 2015 vice-chairman of the Social Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics at AGH in Krakow. From 2016 member of the Social Council of the Biotechnology Center of the Silesian University of Technology. Patent attorney and author of several patents. He prepared about 100 patent applications and about 500 trademark applications for protection.
He took an active part in the development of the 1st Regional Innovation Strategy for Silesia in Poland, the aim of which was to develop a vision of innovative development of the Śląskie Voivodeship. An expert in the field of implementation of the cohesion policy, Circular Economy. From 2015 to March 2020, he is an expert in the National Smart Specializations (KIS) in Warsaw, which constitute the framework for research and development, creating innovative solutions in the economy. Former member of the electromobility team at the Marshal’s Office. Member of the Silesian Forum of Experts from April 2020.
For his activities, he was decorated and honored with many decorations, including the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
