Władysław Ortyl, Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship

In the years 1979-1992 he worked at the Research and Development Center of the Communication Equipment Factory in Mielec as a designer specialist. In the years 1992 – 1998 he was the president of the board of Regional Development Agency MARR SA in Mielec. In 1997 he founded the IN-MARR Entrepreneurship Incubator Association in Mielec.

In the years 1998-2005 he was a councilor of the Podkarpackie Province and a member of the board (1998-2002) and deputy marshal (2001-2002). He take care of programming and implementation of European Union aid programs and the World Bank’s Rural Development Program. In the years 2000-2003 he was a member and vice-chairman of steering and monitoring committees of aid programs, such as: Phare ’99, Phare Socio-Economic Cohesion, Phare Reconstruction, Sapard and the World Bank’s Rural Development Program.

In 2005, he was elected for a senator of the Republic of Poland. He held the senatorial mandate until May 2013. At that time, in 2005-2007, he was the secretary of state in the Ministry of Regional Development.

On May 27, 2013, the Seymik of the Marshal Province entrusted him with the function of the Marshal of the 4th term of office. On November 28, 2014, he was elected the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship for the 5th term of office, and on November 19, 2018, the Voivodship Councilors entrusted him with this function for the next 6th term of office.

Since 2015, he has been a member of the National Development Council under President Andrzej Duda, and since 2016 a member of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union. In January 2019, he became the vice-president of the Union of Provinces of the Republic of Poland. From February 2020, he is also the chairman of the group of European Conservatives and Reformists at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels.
