John Petkus, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Las Vegas
Consul Petkus has been representing Poland in the US state of Nevada for over 12 years. At that time, there was a significant development of economic activity and educational cooperation between Poland and Nevada. The most important element of over 20 business missions that were carried out during this period were two visits by the Nevada governor to Poland (in 2015 and 2017) and a mutual visit by President Andrzej Duda to Nevada (in 2019). From the moment the cooperation between Poland and Nevada was established, both sides were aware that this cooperation leads to greater, faster and wider growth in the long term – not only in economic matters, but also in education and research.
Consul Petkins has lived in Nevada for 27 years and is a graduate of Michigan Technological University where he earned his B.A. in the field of technical communication. The consul has dual Polish-American citizenship and received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit from the President of Poland and the Bene Merito Honorary Badge from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in recognition of his merits in promoting Poland in Nevada and serving as Consul General.
