Jakub Chełstowski, Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship
For many years he was professionally associated with the broadly understood cooperative movement in Tychy. He held managerial positions in the financial sector, including Director of Corporate Supervision and Director of Strategic Assets. He was the President of the Nadwiślańska Turistic Agency based in Tychy and the Secretary of the Social Sports Council at the Minister of Sport and Tourism. He is an expert in the field of restructuring projects in the shipbuilding industry and activation of post-industrial areas.
He was involved in the activities of the non-governmental sector (ngo) – the “Tychy Our Little Homeland” Association. Twice (2010, 2014) he obtained the mandate of the Councilor of the City Council of Tychy. Initiator of, among others the creation of the Tyskie Civic Budget. In 2014, he ran for the office of the Mayor of the City of Tychy. He got the second result.
In 2018, he obtained the mandate of the Councilor of the Silesian Voivodeship regional councils. He won 33,315 votes. On November 21, 2018, he was elected the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship. He is actively involved in activities aimed at transforming the region, including in the work of the so-called Platform for Transformation of Mining Regions at the European Commission. The priority areas of activity are also culture, infrastructure, transport, ecology and sport.
