Interview with the President of Silesian Park, Agnieszka Bożek

Silesian Park is a great partner for the European Future Forum. Recently, the visible development and the great metamorphosis that is currently underway have resulted in the fact that this place will attract residents from all over the Silesian Voivodeship and other parts of Poland.

As Agnieszka Bożek, President of Silesian Park, says, further large investments will be launched soon, such as the reconstruction of the “Fala” bathing beach, or the extension of the “Elka” route to its historical course. For several weeks, however, the inhabitants of the Silesian Voivodeship have been able to enjoy the Japanese Garden.

We invite you to listen to the entire interview.

Krzysztof Sitarski from the Polski Wodór association after the EFF Program Council meeting

Krzysztof Sitarski from the Polish Hydrogen Association on new energy technologies after the first meeting of the Program Council of the European Future Forum.

The initiative related to the organization of the European Future Forum is very valuable, because we can show that the Silesian Voivodeship will be the place where we will apply the latest solutions that will make the development of post-industrial areas, the use of solutions such as hydrogen based on carbon fractions, will be the future for our region.

Zbigniew Gieleciak – president of RCGW SA after the first EFF Program Council meeting

Three elements will determine the future and development of economies and regions – says Zbigniew Gieleciak, President of RCGW S.A. from the Program Council of the European Future Forum. The three elements are:

  • access to cheap and good-quality water,
  • access to ecological energy,
  • access to knowledge capital.

The European Future Forum will specify and formulate directions for this development, which will result in recommendations for further actions, including in the Silesian Voivodeship.

Rafał Kandziora after the first EFF Program Council meeting

Rafał Kandziora of the Institute of Regional Development Silesia, after the first meeting of the EFF Program Council, indicates the time and needs around which we are organizing the European Future Forum.

This is a key moment. I am very glad that there are institutions that will deal with the transformation of Silesia in a blunt and detailed way.

Integration of activities is important. It is a plane that will allow for detailing, targeting and selecting the priorities for Silesia. Positive energy as a challenge should be addressed first.

Jakub Nagórski on the ecosystem for startups in Silesia after the EFF Press Conference

The initiative itself is fantastic, because there was no such project in Silesia before, and if it was on a smaller and private scale – reflects Jakub Nagórski, Head of co.brick Venture Building from Katowice.

Without a combination of several elements, including local government, it is difficult to talk about creating a startup ecosystem and good infrastructure for startups. That they would like to develop here, and not run away elsewhere. So it is good that the voivodeship board has taken this first step to invest in this ecosystem.

See the full statement.

Adam Wesołowski – Director of the Silesian Philharmonic after the EFF conference

For me, Silesia has always been created. Therefore, as the only Europa concert hall that had a system, we made the first, in connection with the hologram, we created the history of a concert with the Silesian hologram – said the Director of the Philharmonic, Adam Wesołowski.

The hologram will conduct the orchestra. We are very happy that it is the Silesian Philharmonic that once again sets new trends – he adds.

We invite you to see the whole conversation.

Jakub Chełstowski about the EFF startup competition after the conference at the Silesian Philharmonic

I am very glad that we found additional funds for the competition for startups. There was no space on the market that would show companies with services and processes. Silesia is changing, the more such companies that achieve success, the better. I am glad that we will be able to show and reward them in such an important event.

This is an important event also because not all of us have a patent on knowledge, we should work together to work out such theses to push the region forward, and this is the most important moment. In the years 2021-2027 there will be the largest number of EU funds and government funds to be managed.

We invite you to watch the entire interview with the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Jakub Chełstowski.

A competition for startups under EFF is about to start. In the prize pool of 150 thousand zlotys

The Silesian Development Fund and the famous accelerator from the Silicon Valley – Plug and Play jointly announced a competition for startups, the finale of which is scheduled for the second day of the European Future Forum at the Silesian Stadium. Four competition stages and prizes worth a total of PLN 150 thousand zlotys await the participants.

Plug and Play, an accelerator from the Silicon Valley, bringing together young technology companies, global corporations and investors, is for the first time looking closely at startups from the perspective of the Silesian Voivodeship. The occasion is the European Future Forum, the organizer of which – the Silesian Development Fund, invited the global tycoon to jointly search for innovative startups or enterprises from the SME sector.

Silesian focuses on innovation

– The Silesian Voivodeship is in the phase of dynamic changes. We set a bold perspective for the development of high technology industries and innovative entities. The ambition of the voivodeship authorities is to implement a responsible economic transformation, including by supporting the development of smart specializations: green economy, medicine, emerging industries. We create space for startups. I hope that we will see ambitious and bold business proposals during the European Future Forum. I invite you to participate in the competition – says Jakub Chełstowski, Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship.

Wanted solutions useful in economic transformation

The organizers of the competition for startups accompanying the European Future Forum are in the spotlight of innovative products, services and processes that will be used in regions implementing economic transformation processes and in post-industrial regions that want to develop and create digital societies. Participation is free, and applications can be submitted through the platform at: www.efp-silesia.com.

– From among the submitted startups, in the first stage of the competition, we will select 50 that will prepare a two-minute video presentation in the next round. Twenty participants will go to the third stage. There, together with Plug and Play representatives, they will work on preparing for the final performance at the Silesian Stadium. Stage four is the final, during which the participants will present their solutions to the jury and the audience. The jury consisting of representatives of Plug and Play and the Silesian Development Fund will select the winner and two laureates from among the finalists, who will be handed over 100 thousand zlotys, 30 thousand zlotys and 20 thousand zlotys – enumerates Alina Komorowska, board member of the Silesian Development Fund, organizer of the European Forum Forum and at the same time a company that the self-government of the Silesian Voivodeship established to support innovative and technological projects in the region with high business potential.

A number of benefits for participants

– The competition is international: technology transfer to Silesia and internationalization of Silesian technologies in the world. The participation in the competition gives startups the opportunity to develop, scale their business and build brand recognition on the international arena. And, of course, opportunities to implement your own concepts through active networking with investors present at the Silesian Stadium during the European Future Forum – says Benjamin Kloss, director of Plug and Play Austria. The Viennese branch of the accelerator is the closest to Poland, while the rest, apart from the nursery in the Silicon Valley, are located in Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, São Paulo and Johannesburg – We are pleased with this cooperation and we are impressed by the huge experience of Plug and Play intuition. Suffice it to mention that he is one of the first investors to believe in PayPal, Dropbox, N26 or BigID – compliments Alina Komorowska.

Innovative Silesian Philharmonic

As befits a project whose main domain is innovation, the competition was announced using an innovative solution on a daily basis used by the Silesian Philharmonic. Its concert hall is the only one in Europe equipped with a modern fog screen, designed to display holograms (it was in the form of holograms that Plug and Play representatives participated in the competition announcement). It is also the second place, next to the Silesian Stadium, closely related to the European Future Forum. The final of the first day of EFF will be the Gala of the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, which will be held at the Philharmonic.

– The fog screen is a Polish invention that allows you to display images on a very thin layer of air with increased humidity. The almost invisible surface on which the holograms appear makes the elements of the projection an integral part of what is also happening on the stage live – explains Adam Wesołowski, director of the Silesian Philharmonic.

On the 6th of October, during the Marshal’s Gala, all points of the artistic program will be enriched with holograms. They will sound, among others works by Wojciech Kilar and Adam Wesołowski, and the Silesian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maciej Tomasiewicz and pianist Piotr Sałajczyk will perform.
