This year’s Economic Forum is taking place in Karpacz, which is also attended by delegations from the Marshal’s Office of the Silesian Voivodeship and the organizers of the European Future Forum.
Łukasz Oprawski, president of the Silesian Development Fund, organizer of the European Future Forum event, takes part in the discussion as part of the Economic Accelerator Forum.
Participants of the debate entitled “Europe – is it still producing? Pandemic and disrupted supply chains ”discussed whether the problems of broken supply chains and disruptions in production could be avoided in the future by relocating them to Europe. Apart from the president of Silesian Development Fund, the panel is attended by Patrick Kaczmarczyk from the University of Sheffield, Mariusz-Jan Radło from the Warsaw School of Economics, Bogusława Drelich-Skulska from the University of Economics in Wrocław and Fabio Righi from the Ministry of Industry, Crafts and Trade of San Marino.
It is worth watching and listening to the interview given by the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Jakub Chełstowski, to the editorial office WPROST.
Important words were spoken, both in the context of the European Future Forum, to which Marshal Chełstowski once again invited to participate, but also outlined further development prospects for the Silesian Voivodeship.
The Carbon Age is coming to an end, but what about?
“The Marshal argued that the mining sector will be replaced by the digital sector, which will create thousands of jobs and will be a magnet especially for young people who want to work in the broadly understood IT industry. For example, in one of the already closed mines, an e-gaming hub worth PLN 1 billion is to be created, which “will accelerate the business community and programmers”. He added that today the Silesian agglomeration is an international center that brings together international and domestic companies from the IT area.
We are very pleased to announce that it is during our event, the European Future Forum, at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów, that a high-level esports tournament will take place.

Another Economic Forum, known as the “Polish Davos”, has started. We would like to remind you that a special letter of intent on cooperation between EFP and EF was signed in Katowice in August. Today we can inform you that this cooperation has started in earnest, the effect of which is, inter alia, the presence of representatives of the Board of the Silesian Voivodeship and the organizers of the European Future Forum during the Forum sessions.
Our goal, among others is to collect good practices and interesting solutions used at the largest event of this type in Poland. However, we did not go there empty-handed. Along with the delegation, the system for displaying holograms, known from previous conferences, also went to the site. We admit that it aroused a lot of interest!
Due to the growing interest in our startup InSilesia Investment SFR Award competition, we are extending the deadline for submitting projects to the competition until 17.09.2021.
Nikolaus Munaretto from Plug and Play Tech Center Vienna invites you to take part in the competition.

We have a world-class multi-functional arena of great events in the Silesian Voivodeship!
The legendary facility was built practically from scratch, but today the Silesian #kociołczarownic is not only an arena for sports struggles, but also a professional conference center, which gives this facility the opportunity to organize great congress events, business events and conferences.
The new conference center is very impressive, and you will be able to check its possibilities in October, during the European Future Forum – events of a rank that have never been seen in our region so far!
We invite you to listen to the conversation with the President of Silesian Stadion (Stadion Śląski Sp. z o.o.) Jan Widera in the next material of our #EFPTV Studio.

European Future Forum (EFF) – a new event on the map of economic events in Poland, joins forces with the Economic Forum, the oldest and most prestigious debate in the country, known as the “Polish Davos”. A letter of intent in this matter was signed today at the Silesian Stadium by Łukasz Oprawski, president of the Silesian Development Fund (ŚFR), organizer of EFF, and Zygmunt Berdychowski, chairman of the Program Council of the Economic Forum.
– The Economic Forum will open, and the European Future Forum will close the season of autumn economic events in southern Poland – says Łukasz Oprawski, president of the Silesian Development Fund, organizer of the European Future Forum. On Friday, August 20, the president of ŚFR signed a letter of intent, which under the power of the European Future Forum scheduled for October 6-8 at the Silesian Stadium joins forces with the Economic Forum, which in turn will take place in Karpacz in less than three weeks – from 7 to 9 September. As part of the cooperation, the events that will take place in Upper and Lower Silesia will promote and support each other in terms of content.
The potential of the Forum in the era of transformation of Silesia
On behalf of the Economic Forum, the contract was signed by Zygmunt Berdychowski, chairman of the Program Council of the “Polish Davos”, who draws attention to the potential of EFF: also thanks to cooperation with renowned startup accelerators such as Plug and Play, the innovation hub. Therefore, the Economic Forum, which is a platform for discussion and exchange of views, is eagerly involved in this type of initiative. The future of our economy is increasingly tied to the creative sector. Especially in the context of the beginning of transformation of Silesia, initiatives such as EFF have an increased chance of success – emphasizes Zygmunt Berdychowski.
Another step in strengthening the region’s brand
In March, the Silesian Voivodeship received the prestigious European Entrepreneurship Region award for the best strategy for supporting the economy and enterprises in the difficult period of fighting the pandemic.
– Silesia is in the elite European group. In the difficult time of fighting the pandemic, we managed, in cooperation with the European Commission and government administration, to prepare the largest regional aid program for the economy in Poland, worth PLN 1.4 billion. This allowed many companies to survive the difficult times and keep their jobs. But that is behind us. Today we have to think about development and the future, take another step in strengthening the brand and importance of our region. The European Future Forum is a new event, but it becomes significant at the start, and the signing of the letter of intent with the Economic Forum, which is an annual international meeting of representatives of the economic and political circles of the Central and Eastern Europe region, gives it prestige.
The Forum, which will be held at the Silesian Stadium, is thus included in the calendar of key economic events for the region. This happens at an important moment, when we break with the stereotype of the Silesian Voivodeship identified only with heavy industry. The “Green Silesian 2030” program – as a reminder – unanimously adopted by the regional parliament in October last year – is a range of completely new challenges. During the European Future Forum, many discussions will probably take place around these issues. Silesia will also become a place of talks about the future of Europe – says Jakub Chełstowski, Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship.
The European Future Forum is a space for substantive discussion with the participation of experts representing the world of economy, business and science. – This is a completely new formula, providing a platform for the exchange of experiences. Time is not accidental. The Silesian Voivodeship begins the process of transformation. In less than a decade, we are to become an environmentally friendly region that focuses on modern technologies. Decisions regarding the gradual departure of the mining industry mean that we are faced with the need to redefine the region’s economy. We want to listen to the voice of young people in particular, because it is largely up to them to determine what our voivodeship will look like in the near future. The key will be education setting new directions of development – comments Wojciech Kałuża, Deputy Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship.
