Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki heads the Honorary Committee of the European Future Forum

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are pleased to announce with great satisfaction, that the invitation to chair the Honorary Committee of the European Future Forum event was accepted by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. We would also like to inform you that the Prime Minister has assumed the honorary patronage of the European Future Forum.

For us, it is a great emphasis on the importance and scale of this event in the first edition. Before us is a decade of extremely dynamic changes that will affect almost every sphere of our lives. Our ambition is to create a platform for regular, cyclical dialogue with the participation of eminent personalities from the world of politics, economy and science on topics of significant importance for Europe, Poland and, of course, the Silesian Voivodeship.

100 applications in the competition for startups as part of the European Future Forum

100 applications were submitted to InSilesia Investment SFR Competition. The competition for startups is a joint initiative of the Silesian Development Fund and the famous accelerator from the Silicon Valley – Plug and Play. The final of the competition will take place on the 7th of October at the Silesian Stadium – on the second day of the European Future Forum. There are 150,000 zloty in the prize pool.

From among the submitted startups, the organizer and partner of the competition will select 20, which, together with Plug and Play representatives, will work on their presentations during the final pitching session, which will take place on the 7th October during the European Future Forum at the Silesian Stadium. During the finals, participants will present their solutions to jurors and the audience. The jury consisting of representatives of Plug and Play and the Silesian Development Fund, will select the winner and two winners from among the finalists, to whom they will hand out 100, 30 and 20 thousand zloty.

The organizers of the startup competition accompanying the European Future Forum are in the spotlight of innovative products, services and processes that will be used in regions implementing economic transformation processes and in post-industrial regions.

– The competition is international: technology transfer to Silesia and internationalization of Silesian technologies in the world. The mere participation in the competition gives startups the opportunity to develop, scale their business and build brand recognition in the international arena. And, of course, opportunities to implement your own concepts through active networking with investors present at the Silesian Stadium during the European Future Forum – says Benjamin Kloss, director of Plug and Play Austria.

The Viennese branch of the accelerator is the closest to Poland, while the rest, apart from the Silicon Valley, are located, among others, in Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, São Paulo and Johannesburg. Plug and Play is one of the first investors to believe in PayPal, Dropbox, N26 or BigID.

The Silesian Voivodeship is in a phase of dynamic changes. We set a bold perspective for the development of high technology industries and innovative entities. The ambition of the voivodeship authorities is to implement a responsible economic transformation, including by supporting the development of smart specializations: green economy, medicine, emerging industries. We create space for startups. I hope that during the European Future Forum we will see ambitious and bold business proposals – says Jakub Chełstowski, Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship.

Katowice Special Economic Zone S.A. celebrates its 25th anniversary

Awarded with the title of “Highly Recommended” in the category of the Best SEZ for Small and Medium Enterprises in Europe. KSEZ won as many as 5 awards in the fDi Intelligence report – Global Free Zones Rankings 2020. The international jury awarded Katowice SEZ in the following categories: infrastructure development, new investments, skills development, intelligent strategies, and an excellent talent base.

During 25 years of operation, both foreign and domestic companies (the number of which exceeded 500!) Invested over PLN 42 billion here, which allowed to create about 90,000,000 jobs.

In the situation of the still dynamically developing investment market, stimulated by the strategically important (especially the variety of financial and procedural tools) formula of the Polish Investment Zone and the ongoing offensive of acquiring new business partners – the Jubilee of the Zone during the struggle with pandemic threats appears as a reason for far increasing satisfaction with the achievements and position of the Katowice Zone. The wealth of our investments, including the flagship project for the construction of the Polish electric car “IZERA” – determines the prospect of further challenges that we undertake to strengthen a wide range of strategic government programs building the economic position of the Republic of Poland.

Anniversary events in the Katowice Special Economic Zone – on the days of the European Future Forum – are an opportunity to present the offer of the Polish Investment Zone aimed at activities that combine investments, education, culture – activities that increase the attractiveness of the Silesian Voivodeship, but also perfectly fit into the National Reconstruction Plan.
